Male and Female Hormones. Sexual Health. Desire. Libido.

Yes. We can ALL relate to these words! No matter your age or situation, sexual health is an integral part of our overall wellness. Countless scientific studies have shown the many benefits of a healthy and active love-life including; living longer, obtaining greater success in business, a greater well-being and of course a happier and longer lasting relationship.

As we proceed in life, the effects of aging and declining hormone deficiencies, such as testosterone can result in depression, low libido and sex drive, lack of energy and fatigue, decreased muscle tone and mass, hair loss, mood swings and irritability, lowered sense of self confidence, mental blocks and lack of drive and focus, difficulty achieving and maintaining erections, less or no interest in sexual or intimate encounters, and increases in body fat and weight gain.

Managing Erectile Dysfunction

Many men seek medical advice and treatment when faced with ED. It is often an embarrassing time for men and a frustrating one, but medications available today have helped to solve the issues of ED and premature ejacualation (PE). For most men who have trouble keeping an erection firm enough for sex (erectile dysfunction), these medications work well and cause few side effects.

For women, there has been little advancements in options for lack of sexual desire.

Bremelanotide PT141 was developed from Melanotan II, targeting its aphrodisiac effects. What separates peptides such as PT-141 from other sexual medications is that it directly targets the area of the brain that controls sexual response and, in the process, increases libido and promotes more frequent erections. The exciting part is that unlike other drugs designed and used for ED (sexual dysfunction) and drive for men, is that PT-141 can improve the sexual dysfunction not only in men, but in women as well. This peptide has been shown to have a substantial effect on libido, generating sexual arousal in both men and women within minutes of administration. PT-141 is said to cater to the most frequent problems associated with women and their sex life. While the average male might assume that the obvious complaints among females are a shortage of orgasms and arousal, it is actually a lack of desire that is most often their chief concern. A product like PT-141, which avoids acting on the vascular system, could cure this problem by working directly on a woman’s mind and promoting sexual desire. Furthermore, it has been shown to be effective in treating erectile dysfunction, even in men who have not responded to other ED treatments, such as Viagra and Cialis. This peptide is also able to cross the blood-brain-barrier, bypassing the vascular system and acting at the level of the central nervous system.(PT 141 is an FDA approved drug when prescribed by a licensed medical provider).

Women’s sexuality can be multifaceted and fairly complicated

Women’s sexual desires naturally fluctuate over the years. Highs and lows commonly coincide with the beginning or end of a relationship or with major life changes, such as pregnancy, menopause or illness. We also know that some medications used for mood disorders also can also cause low sex drive in women.

Loss of sexual desire, known in medical terms as hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), is the most common form of sexual dysfunction among women of all ages.

If you want to have sex less often than your partner does, neither one of you is necessarily outside the norm for people at your stage in life — although your differences may cause distress.

Similarly, even if your sex drive is weaker than it once was, your relationship may be stronger than ever. Bottom line: There is no magic number to define low sex drive. It varies between women.

Symptoms of low sex drive in women include:

  • Having no interest in any type of sexual activity, including masturbation
  • Never or only seldom having sexual fantasies or thoughts
  • Being concerned by your lack of sexual activity or fantasies

What are the Effects of PT 141 in Women?

Recent studies have shown that over 43% of the women in the United States experience little or no sexual satisfaction from orgasm and only 25% achieve orgasm with intercourse. Fortunately, there are libido treatments for women who desire greater sexual fulfillment, greater intimacy and enhanced relationships. More women reported moderate or high sexual desire following bremelanotide treatment vs. placebo. Among women who attempted sexual intercourse within 24 hours after treatment, significantly more were satisfied with their level of sexual arousal following bremelanotide, compared with placebo.

  • Results. More women reported moderate or high sexual desire following bremelanotide treatment vs. placebo.
  • Among women who attempted sexual intercourse within 24 hours after treatment, significantly more were satisfied with their level of sexual arousal following bremelanotide, compared with placebo.
  • Effects may be felt up to 12 hours from the time of administration and have been known to last for up to 3 days, diminishing each day.
  • PT- 141 has been shown to have significant results on male test patients, with what is described as “intense” and “frequent” erections lasting between 2-6 hours.
  • For women, sexual arousal has been experienced in a varied range of minutes to weeks
  • Bremelanotide PT 141 was developed from the peptide hormone Melanotan II
  • Effective in treating sexual dysfunction in men – impotence / erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation
  • Effective in treating sexual dysfunction in women – sexual arousal disorder
  • Does not act upon the vascular system
  • Increases sexual desire via the central nervous system

Sildenafil (Viagra) and Tadalafil (Cialis) are both medications used to reverse erectile dysfunction by increasing nitric oxide, a chemical naturally produced by your body. Nitric oxide opens and relaxes blood vessels in the penis, helping you get and keep an erection. They are used only when sexually stimulated, however, as they will not increase your sex drive, only an erection at the time of arousal.

Tramadex is a blend of two different compounded medications which are used to treat premature ejaculation (PE) and is often combined with Viagra or Cialis. It works by the targeted modulation of synaptic receptors and processes of the central nervous system that are involved in the ejaculatory process. Treating PE with Tramadex can help to increase Intravaginal Ejaculatory Latency Time or the Time-to-Ejaculation (T2E) thereby enhancing enjoyment of sexual intercourse. This treatment has the ability to both extend the T2E as well as completely suppress the ejaculatory response at higher doses on the order of two to three capsules.

Experiencing a drop in testosterone levels is not always a clear indication of it being hormonal. There are many signs and symptoms as what is being experienced may seem to be a normal part of aging or assumed to be caused by other health conditions. Some of the more common signs and symptoms of low testosterone may include:

  • Fatigue or loss of energy
  • Low sex drive (reduced desire to be intimate)
  • Sexual dysfunction (weak erections, failure to get erections)
  • Depressed mood
  • Decreased sense of well-being
  • Increased body fat
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Decreased bone strength

If you are experiencing any or all of these symptoms, getting a simple blood test to determine your levels may be a good start in discovering a way to feel better, address the issues and possibly determine if there are other areas that need to be addressed. It’s important to keep your testosterone at a normal level for your age. The right treatment can bring your testosterone levels back to normal and keep them there. And once you get back the testosterone you’ve been missing, you may experience lasting symptom relief.

Testosterone: not Just for Men

We often mistake testosterone as the “male” hormone. While it’s true that men do produce ten times more testosterone than women, it still plays an important role in the health of women. It has been identified that low testosterone, not estrogen, is what may lead to weight gain, fatigue, loss of mental focus and low libido in middle-aged women.

Under-Active Thyroid
Under-active thyroid function is becoming more and more common and even today it is horribly under-diagnosed. The good news is that once it is diagnosed, it can be very easy to treat, and therapy can alleviate your symptoms and make life worth living again! The thyroid gland is in charge of regulating the body’s metabolic rate. If the thyroid gland is sluggish or can’t produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormones, the metabolism decreases, fatigue sets in and the person gains weight. A simple blood test asking for specific thyroid tests can help determine if you could benefit from thyroid hormone optimization. Some underactive thyroid signs and symptoms can include:

  • Fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Weight gain
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Feeling depressed / anxious
  • Poor concentration
  • Cold intolerance / low body temperature
  • Rough dry skin
  • Headaches
  • Low libido
  • Brittle nails
  • Thinning hair
  • Water retention / edema
  • Infertility
  • Muscle weakness
  • Increased appetite
